Are you on page one of Google?
We were looking at some figures recently relating to page one of Google, and more broadly just how far users dig into Google when searching. You know the answer yourself. How many pages do you have to look at before you find what you seek? I’ll wager that most of you find what you want on page one, with the amount of searches going to page two being lower. What that tells you is that if you’re not on page one, you’re lucky to pick up the scraps. If you’re on page four onward – forget it, your site may as well not exist.
Nobody knows it all
Google gives plenty of tips on how to improve your rankings but it doesn’t give away all of its secrets. Plus it changes the rules constantly, so for those of us that do this for a living, there is always something new to learn. There is not a single SEO company on the planet that can promise you that coveted top slot if the competition is fierce. If they do promise you – they are liars and you can tell them I said so! However, a number of us do implement best practice and can help people in most cases. We’ve been helping people climb the rankings since 2008, and we constantly improve our methods. That being said, we do not take on all clients that ask for SEO help – but it’s not personal. We are simply too ethical to take your money if we don’t think we can help.
SEO is vital for every website
Is it not time you invested in getting yourself further up the rankings? What is the real value of a client, an extra sale, or a few bookings worth in your business. Balance the cost of SEO against the potential of extra revenue into your business – it’s a no-brainer!
SEO doesn’t have to be complicated, quite often applying a couple of common sense principles at a bit of clever targeting can give your site a lift. Not does it have to be ridiculously expensive. Time is money of course, so if you think it’ll cost €50 to get you to number one in Google for something as broad as “Spain”, then think again.
Eternal tips to get on page one of Google
There are some things that have always been a constant when Google is choosing how to rank websites. Here are just a couple of tips to set you on your way. Make sure you have done them yourself before speaking to a Search Engine Optimisation company – it will save you some time and money.
- Content is king. It’s an old adage but it’s still true! Make sure that you have plenty of written content on your website. Having a dozen words on your Home Page isn’t going to get you very far unless your website is rather niche.
- Quality counts. Check your spelling, your grammar and your facts. Yes Google can tell websites apart that are riddled with errors
- Write for the reader. Keep it natural. If it doesn’t read quite right to a human being, then Google won’t like it
- Keep it clean. If your website has been built by an amateur, the chances are that it contains all manner of unnecessary code. While it is tempting to get a free website from a mate – you could actually be damaging your business. It may look pretty but if the code is messy it could cause all manner of problems for your business.
